Coming Up on ViewPoint-Jan./Feb. 2009
By CBHadmin @ 3:29 PM :: 34 Views :: 0 Comments ::

Okay, be honest: during the recent presidential campaign did you tune in to any of the cable news networks? CNN? Fox? MSNBC? And don’t forget staples like National Public Radio and PBS. And ABC, CBS, and NBC? They’re still in the game too, of course. News. News. News. It’s one of the modern media’s fastest growing edges. We seem to have an insatiable appetite to learn about what’s going on in the world around us these days—and with good reason: there’s a lot going on that can have dramatic impact on where we live, right here, right now.

CBH Sends Out A Word of Hope to India
By CBHadmin @ 3:14 PM :: 25 Views :: 0 Comments ::

India. It’s home to one billion souls, a complex weave of castes, religions, landscapes, languages, and cultures. It is both modern and remarkably ancient, home to extravagant wealth and to the most extreme poverty to be found anywhere on the planet. And it is one place Christians Broadcasting Hope (CBH) calls home.

The English word holiday, of course, is a combination of the English words holy day. Most holidays originated as “holy days”—days set apart for sacred purposes. In time, holy days morphed into holidays, and the root meanings of the celebrations became, all too often, lost in the shuffle.

The holidays are around the corner, looming large as November and December approach. As the weeks unfold, ViewPoint will give you some fresh perspective on the celebration of these “holy days,” bringing new life and meaning to what can sometimes become an exhausting year’s end.

Give Thanks, Sponsor A Day of Hope
:: 0 Comments ::

As the end of the year approaches, we at Christians Broadcasting Hope (CBH) join with you in reflecting upon the blessings of God over the past year. No doubt, we have much for which to be thankful. First and foremost, we thank God for his redemptive love shown through Jesus Christ. We also thank God for the privilege of sharing in the ministry of spreading the hope of Jesus through broadcasting.

This is an especially exciting time for the ministries of CBH.

  • In February we will dedicate new and expanded facilities and personnel in Kenya, East Africa.
  • Our India team reports growing contacts with seekers of Jesus stemming from our recently launched Hindi broadcast. God is working in spite of the dark cloud of rising Hindu fundamentalist violence against Christians in the very Indian state where our broadcasts originate.
  • The new CBH French team is assembled, training, preparing programs, as we anticipate the launch of our new French broadcast in West Africa within the next few weeks.
  • A rebirth of CBH’s ministry to Arabic speaking people of the Middle East is beginning to come into focus.

ViewPoint Expands On-Air Team
:: 0 Comments ::

ViewPoint continues the rich legacy of CBH English broadcasting--a legacy spanning more than sixty years--with a new expanded on-air team.  Each week it is heard on radio stations and the Internet, literally around the globe.  We are in touch with listeners everyday via e-mail and phone.  A twenty-four-hour line in North America answers calls from our ViewPoint audience.  A phone bank in London receives calls from our listeners in Europe and the Caribbean.  Every day, the conversation, the sowing, the giving hope, and the reaping continues.

Coming Up on ViewPoint
:: 1 Comments ::

Every now and then, there’s a CBH ViewPoint line-up that you just can’t miss; this summer’s program schedule will be one of those.  No doubt about it.

First, ViewPoint will take you on-the-road, exploring the center of the new Europe:  Berlin, the heart of the Reformation at Wittenburg, and off-the-beaten path in the far eastern reach of Ukraine (along the shore of the Sea of Azov—that’s right, the Sea of Azov … get out your map and check it out).

CBH Team Heads to East Africa
:: 1 Comments ::
For the past three and a half years, CBH has worked in partnership with the Kima International School of Theology (KIST) for a major expansion of our radio, recording, production, and training capabilities in East Africa. During this period, our CBH producer, Obed Okech, has spent three years in Nairobi completing his masters program in communications at Daystar University. Additionally, CBH’s small recording facility, the Kist Communication Center, has been nearly tripled in size. Through the efforts of CBH, several individual supporters, several CBH Eye on the World Ministry Teams, and our CBH team in Kenya, as well as many of the KIST workers and students, this effort is now nearing completion.

Join CBH In the Holy Land

By:  Jim Lyon
       CBH ViewPoint Host

It has been my privilege to visit over 50 countries in this world.  I have stood in the shadows of the Eiffel Tower and on the Great Wall of China.  I have watched the sunrise over the Taj Mahal and climbed to the feet of the famed statue of Christ the Redeemer, overlooking Rio de Janeiro.  From the spectacle of the African savannah to the sweep of Alaska’s wilderness, I have been moved by the grandeur of God’s creation.  But, in the whole wide world, there really is nothing like a glimpse of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, or the feel of a breeze sweeping up the hillside from the Sea of Galilee.

The Holy Land.  It is a tiny plot of earth that has been the hinge of history.  And more.  It is a tiny plot of land upon which Jesus Himself, the very Word of God become flesh, walked.  In Person.  The world still echoes with the sound of His voice.  The Holy Land still carries the sense of His presence.

To stand in the Shepherd’s Field outside of Bethlehem’s gate on a cold winter’s night, to explore the warren of streets and shops that hug the Temple Mount in the ancient walled city of Jerusalem, to actually stand on the top of Mt. Zion, to step into the River Jordan, to imagine the blind Bartimaeus call for help as you walk the streets of Jericho, to hear the reading of the Sermon on the Mount, while sitting in the still quiet of a field of lilies overlooking the Sea of Galilee, to discover the Capernaum house in which Peter once lived and in which Jesus healed his mother-in-law, to pause at the well in Nazareth as Mary once did when Gabriel appeared  … well, there is, quite simply, no place in the world like it.

Join us January 4-15, 2009, for an unforgettable journey through the Old and New Testaments, as CBH leads you through the Holy Land.  I am looking forward to returning to this land like no other once more—and I am looking forward to introducing it to you, our CBH friends, myself.  It will be an adventure like no other.  It will be an experience like no other.

Plan now.  Pray now.  Save now.  And, oh yes, be sure to pack your Bible.  You will see its stories come to life.  In the Holy Land.  January, 2009.  I hope to see you then.  An Itinerary and a Fact Sheet for the trip are available. For more information e-mail or call 800-757-VIEW (800-757-8439).

Jesus B-Now on ViewPoint
:: 0 Comments ::

How would you describe yourself? Are you a Christian? A church member? A disciple of Christ? A follower of Christ? A child of God? All of the above? Some of the above? None of the above?
What about Jesus B? Jesus B? What in the world does that mean, you ask? Well, have you ever thought about being like Jesus—or, in shorthand, Jesus B? Doesn’t Scripture teach us that when we are redeemed by Christ, we become a part of the “body of Christ”?  .

Radio Reaches the World For Christ
:: 0 Comments ::
Radio remains, nearly one hundred years after it was first introduced, the world’s most accessible medium. Yes, television is compelling, with its combination of both sight and sound. And yes, the Internet is making the world smaller, with its endless array of Web sites and interactive possibilities. Print media and motion pictures hold their own. But more billions (that’s not a typo—yes, billions) of people can tune into a radio broadcast than can be touched by any other form of mass media.

CBH Hindi Broadcast Debuts
:: 0 Comments ::
For over three years, the staff of CBH have been praying, dreaming, planning, working, and acting to bring about a new broadcast of hope in the Hindi language. May 3, 2007, at 8:45 AM EDT (in the United States), will see the culmination of that effort. This new broadcast, produced in eastern India by the same CBH staff that produces the CBH Oriya broadcast, will go out over the airwaves of Trans World Radio as a word of hope to the hundreds of millions of Hindi-speaking people across the Indian subcontinent.
