Retreat to the Cove: October 20-23

jim-lyon“Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest for awhile.” —Mark 6:31 (NASB)

Let’s see. What shall I do with a few days off? It’s a question most of us face, from time to time. Shall I stay home and work around the house—catching up with all of those odd jobs that stack up over time? Or, shall I plan for a few days away at the beach? At the lake? Gulf coast? Atlantic coast? How about California?

Or, maybe I pull some family or friends together for a getaway a state or two away from my home—not across an ocean, but far enough to know I’ve gone somewhere. Or, I could go camping, or maybe hiking. A state park? A national park in the neighborhood? Hmmm.

Or, I could taste something completely different—an event, a venue, a chance to be refreshed and renewed in a new way. I could become a part of the annual CBH Retreat at the Cove.

The CoveThe Cove. The Billy Graham Training Center in North Carolina—near Asheville. A spectacular property with all of the amenities of a top tier hotel, but more: with all of the peace, quiet, and sacred grounding you might imagine exist a stone’s throw from the mountaintop home where the great evangelist has lived for over half a century. The Cove is a steeply wooded—and astonishingly beautiful—ravine, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. It is, honestly, in the whole world, a place like no other.

Each year, the ministry team at CBH, together with special guests from all over the world, hosts a three-day retreat at The Cove, in the third week of October, just as the trees are painted in reds, yellows, and deep orange. The stunning facilities, the spectacular setting, and a wonderful company of new friends and faces conspire each year to make the CBH Retreat at The Cove a moment you will treasure all the year long.

You will return to your ordinary routines better, stronger, more hopeful and blessed. We promise. Come and see for your self. Join us. You will be glad you did.

What Others Have Said

The Cove chapel in fall“My first impressions of the Cove were beautiful. It was a tucked away haven.”

“That sense that it’s a holy place is really what struck me that moment we arrived. The beauty, and the friendliness of the people”

“It’s been a wonderful, restful time for us. A time to contemplate God’s will for our lives. A time to meet brothers and sisters in Christ from around the country. A time to talk with each other about our hopes and our plans and our joys with our family.”

“We’ve had some stressful times in our family over the past year, including the death of my father, so it just seemed like a special place to go to get away from every day life and be alone with the Lord. And this has been just that.”

“…it’s a little bit of “Heaven on Earth” – one of those places where EVERYONE is kind, friendly, and sweet-spirited—from the man at the gate-house to the women who greet you at the door, to those who serve the food, as well as the guides who lead you through the three-storied chapel building.”
